TL; DR — SIEGECON went really well; we tested Sydney, hosted a tournament, and got lots of great feedback.
This past weekend we went to SIEGECON! We had a table there and got to give people a hand-ons of a special build just for SIEGE, which, as you can see in the screenshot above, included our current prototype of Sydney, the fifth character for our game. We learned a lot from the build we showed off over the weekend and are adjusting her kit to make her even more fun. She is still a work in progress, but we will post some gifs of her in action in some future blog posts.
I would like to add the disclaimer that Sydney will not be coming out in the net play update planned for the end of this month. We have decided to make only the first 4 characters available in the demo. When she is released she will only be available to those who have purchased a copy of the game, either through itch.io or as part of a bundle.
That being said the network code update will be the last major update that does not distinguish between paid and free versions of the game. After that, players who have purchased the game will get new characters as soon as they are ready for release and other goodies, like different game types and the eventual release of the single player modes.
Lastly, while at SIEGE we hosted a tournament Saturday night! It was really fun and super intense at times. You can see the results of the tournament here. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place all walked away with at least 1 free copy of the game upon its release. We had a great time and would like to thank all the people would checked out our booth this past weekend!
